Liturgical Stoles

Ann's work was heavily influenced by her Christian faith so it's not surprising that she decided to make a number of ministerial stoles. She quickly discovered, however, that the standard pattern for a stole was designed for a man and didn't really fit well for women. So she developed a pattern that worked much better for women and began to experiment with different fabrics.

Some were designed to be complete pieces for specific recipients. Others were designed to be mix-and-match with interchangeable left and right-hand sides just as an experiment. (She really did find interesting uses for Velcro.) Little did she know that these stoles would be the last works that she would complete. One of them in fact was finished just the day before she died.
